Young Artists Join Forces to Reduce Hunger

Children are born with traits that we aspire towards as adults. Traits such as kindness, enthusiasm, honesty, curiosity and a remarkable ability to share and see each other as equals. Almost a desire to be natural social entrepreneurs. The Peter Wulff Center aspires to educate children in the art of service learning through creating projects that touch others lives benefitting humanity.

16 year old Sree Nara and 14 year old Siena Sulkin are poised to use their artistic talents to benefit families suffering from food insecurity. They have been invited to display their art at Frantonio’s Italian Deli in Barrington and Cherry on Top Ice Cream Shop in Algonquin. 30% of the sales from their art will benefit families who are suffering from food insecurity. These youth were inspired by award winning gourmet cook Zein Bertacchi who has been cooking for charities for the last 25 years. Most recently she has sold Humanitarian Hummus through her youth volunteer assistants to buy groceries for 2 families from funds raised through the sales of her 10 oz Hummus cups.

There is a long tradition of raising funds for charity first at Chess Without Borders then at the Peter Wulff Center. These nonprofits have raised $314,000 to benefit local and global charities through long and short term projects conducted by youth over the last 25 years. Both Sree and Sienna are delighted to join this tradition to make a difference in the lives of needy families.
